Our Plantations

Robinia Invest pioneers Robinia and Paulownia plantations in Germany
We will plant 60 hectares with Robinia and Paulownia seedlings each year. Subsequently we will sell part of these plantations as Robinia and Paulownia investments.

Why Germany?
There are many reasons why we choose Germany as the location of choice. First off, the German climate is suitable for commercial Robinia and Paulownia cultivation. Along with this there is plenty of good land still available. Just as the cost of land is reasonable, so is the overall cost of labour. When you add an excellent infrastructure, it is easy to see why Germany is the best option. What's also very important about Germany is its central location in Europe. Sure, Robinia and Paulownia can grow in part of eastern Europe aswell, maybe even in Romania, but when the trees have to be sold, they have to be transported back to western Europe as the market for Robinia is there. If you have to transport your Robinia or Paulownia thousands of miles just to sell them, the transport costs alone make your whole return vanish into thin air.

Another reason why we are not building plantations in Eastern Europe, like Romania, is because of the fact that there are already thousands of hectares with Robinia there. With such a large supply of Robinia on the market, prices are really low for the end products. From a purely economic standpoint it therefore makes no sense in setting up a few hundred extra hectares of plantation Robinia in those locations. After all, the main objective is to sell the poles and biomass for the highest price possible. Simply to start a plantation because land and labour are cheap does not make very good business sense. It's the ability to sell the end product that really matters.

Forestry management
You can rely on German forestry experts to watch over and manage your trees. With years of experience in the area, you can rest assured that your Robinia or Paulownia Investment is in good hands.

Modern cultivation model
Your Robinia plot is managed by modern cultivation methods that shorten the term of your Forestry Investment. Your benefit is the minimization that something goes wrong and the ability to recoup your money in a shorter period of time.

The difference between Robinia, Paulownia and Teak
Your plot will be used to cultivate trees to make into poles whereas Teak is used to manufacture boards or veneer. A Teak cultivator plants about 1,100 cuttings per hectare, which are ready for felling in 20 to 25 years. Considering the purpose for which Teak trees are cultivated, they need a long period to reach the required volume before they are suitable for processing.

The Robinia cultivation approach is as follows: on one hectare of land 6,000 cuttings (more than 5 times the number in a teak plantation) are planted close to each other. When the crowns of the young trees touch each other they begin to compete for sunlight, and in turn they continue to grow upwards. After 10 years, the length and thickness of your Robinia trees are sufficient enough to get roughly 10,000 poles per hectare. The remainder of your trees can then be processed for biomass (wood chips).

The Paulownia cultivation method is as follows: on one hectare of land we plant 600 seedlings. These trees grow very fast and by planting only 600 per hectare, the canopies of the trees will not compete with eachother for room. Unlike Robinia, Paulownia does grow straight on its own.

Your advantage
Simply put, with your Robinia or Paulownia investment you do not have to wait 20 to 25 years for your money. Also, the risks associated with your Forestry Investment are low and you have the ability to achieve an excellent overall return.
